  Jersey Shore Beaches

Of course one of the main reasons for visiting the Jersey Shore is the beautiful, clean beaches.
Beaches along the Jersey Shore are some of the best in the world and each town offers a different beach experience from the beach bars in Atlantic City to volleyball, fishing, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and more.
Ocean City was recently named the best beach in New Jersey by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium and New Jersey Sea Grant.
All of the oceanfront beaches at the Jersey Shore except Highlands, Atlantic City, North Wildwood, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest require beach badges in the summer. Most towns offer a discount if badges are purchased before June 1. Badges can be purchased for the day, week or season.
Each town has its own regulations regarding what activities are permitted on its beaches. Some activities -  like surfing and kayaking - are permitted only at certain beaches within the town. It's best to check with lifeguards or the local police department especially in the summer when the beaches are crowded.
Most towns provide restrooms and water fountains on or near the most popular beaches and some have showers right on the beach or boardwalk. Chairs and umbrellas can be rented in many towns.
Enjoy the beach and don't forget the sunscreen!
